Don't waste words on people who deserve your silence

It has taken me years to realize this. I have continued to try and reach out, forgive and be loving to some of the most hurtful manipulative people, only to have my words and intentions grossly twisted and distorted. I was raised to turn the other cheek but this only created resentment and anger within me as I seemed to be the only one living by this rule in my intimate relationships. When I finally would speak up, I was shot down over and over. I have finally learned that forgiveness is more than enough. Forgiveness toward the other person(s) and toward myself for my reacting. Forgive and walk away. We can still love others but God does not require us to be a doormat. I just figured this out as well. In my efforts to do the right thing, I became bitter and hurtful. Just like those who hurt me. That is not love and that is certainly not of God. Forgiveness is indeed the key, but it is more for us than anyone else- so that we can begin to heal and move on. ~ Bethany Saxton

Silence kills. I shut up my mouth if I know that I don’t like to augment the things that I hate to tackle. There’s nothing to explain when everything is self explanatory. When every word you say is misconstrued. People rant and rave, when, all you are trying to do is please them. They put everything on you, as if it was and is your fault. Nothing you say is ever right. You try your hardest to please and all you get is criticism. Words hurt. Actions also hurt. So, back to the above, I guess it’s best if you say nothing at all. ~ Brenda Thurman
