The real you is not for someone to discover. You are the CEO of your heart and have to decide who you show your heart to. Love is like poker. If you show your hand and he/she folds, you throw in your hand, check your chips and bet again. If he/she sees you then raises, then you keep going. If you show your heart and they walk away from the table, you check your chips, regroup and find the courage to soften your heart again enough to be open to showing it again. One day, out of nowhere someone comes along and “sees” you for who you are despite what you intended to show. Before you know it, you’re “naked” and exposed without a fig leaf in sight or the desire to find one because he/she is also “naked” before you and God in a garden you don’t remember traveling to. ~ Shantel Alexander
